Creating a content template

Create a content template to configure the design of the authoring form and determine what elements can be included in the form.

Before you begin

To create a content template, open the applications menu and go to Content > Web Content Management and then click New > Authoring Template > Content Template.

Enter content template identification details
Specify identification information for the content template, including the name, title and description of the content template.
Specify a location for the content template
When creating a content template you can specify the location of the content template.
Defining content item properties
Specify the characteristics of the item that is generated from the content template, including the type of item to be created, where it can be saved and version control strategies.
Define form properties for a content template
Specify the layout and functions available to content authors when creating a new item based on this content template.
Content template properties
Specify properties for the content template, including the list of authors and owners associated with the content template.
Granting content template access
Specify the access control settings for the content template to determine which users have access to the content template and their level of access.
Default identification settings for content items
Specify default identification information for content items created using this content template.
Adding elements to the content item form
Add elements to the content item form generated from the content template. You can define default values for the elements and set properties that dictate how the elements are displayed or processed.
Default properties for content items
Specify default properties for content items created using this content template.
Default profile settings for content items
Specify the profile information used to categorize the content item, such as the categories to which the item belongs and any keywords that you want to associate with the content item.
Default workflow settings for content items
Specify default workflow properties for content items created using this content template.
Granting access to control content template modifications
Specify the access control settings for the content template to determine which users have access to the content template and their level of access.
